Judy Green steps down, endorses David Merner

Aug 30, [Saanich, BC]— Green Party leadership candidate Judy Green dropped out of the contest yesterday, endorsing fellow candidate David Merner for leader of the Green Party of Canada. See:

“I want to announce that I am placing my full support behind David Merner”, Ms. Green said. “I have had the opportunity to get to know David throughout the last few months. I believe David is the unifier we need at this critical time. He understands that the green wave is growing in Atlantic Canada, just as it is on the west coast. And, he knows what we need to do to ride that wave to the polls.”

David Merner thanked Ms. Green for her support. “I am very sorry that you are leaving the leadership race”, he said. “You have inspired so many of us in the Green Party with your hard work and positive spirit during the leadership race. I look forward to working together for many years to come.”

David Merner was the 2019 Green Party candidate in Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke where he came a close second with 26 per cent of the vote.
